Our Story
Sheela Ratan and her husband, Dr. Ram Ratan, were first-wave Indian immigrants practicing in Yucca Valley, California.
As the Practice Manager, Sheela spent countless hours coordinating follow-up care, arranging for rides, calling in prescriptions, sourcing equipment, translating and advocating for benefits, and providing social and emotional support.
Twenty years after they retired, little about the friction-laden and messy process of care coordination has changed. It costs billions in wasted caregiver time and health care costs and countless hours of unpaid labor for family caregivers.
Our team believes we must do better. We’re founded on this promise.
Our Ethos
Why we exist
Our purpose is to protect the vulnerable and empower the caring - By orchestrating care, helping frontline caregivers, patients and their families do what they’re trying to do, only better.
The future we believe in
Our vision is a world where no one falls through the cracks.
Where care is proactive.
Where systems work in harmony.
Where communities thrive.
Where people access health, public and social support with dignity.
The work we do, and why
Our mission is to identify those in or near crisis, and mobilize the most humane, intelligent, and timely response to prevent trauma - across homes, hospitals, communities, and care networks.
Our Values
Service Over Ego
We put mission above prestige and care above credit. We’re here to help - not to profit. We’d rather be effective than right.
Collaboration
We build across boundaries with clinicians, engineers, caregivers and patients. We ask questions before we make claims. We listen generously.
Trust
Trust isn’t assumed - it’s built. We own our work and invite challenges. If something fails, we name it. If something harms, we change it. Consent is core, not merely compliance. Transparency is central to how we learn, build, and share.
Candor and Kindness
We choose strength with empathy. We give and receive feedback with care. We say the hard thing when it matters. We hold each other accountable, assuming positive intent.
Dignity
We build systems that honor human difference and defend the worth of every person. We show up with calm strength, fierce protection, and gentle practice. Care, respect and equity are at the root of all we do.
Moral Courage
We take stands with conscience. Design decisions are moral choices. We interrogate power and align our code with our conscience. We dream big about what’s possible, knowing that shaping the future with care is our responsibility.
